Wildlife
The best wildlife image is not the sharpest or the closest. It is the one where the animal is doing something — where behavior, not beauty, is what stops the eye.
The Approach
Behavior
Over Beauty.
Wildlife photography asks you to disappear. The moment the animal knows you are watching, the behavior changes. What you are after is the moment of total indifference — when the subject has forgotten you exist and is just living.
I am less interested in the posed-looking portrait and more interested in the instant that reveals something about how the animal actually moves through the world. A hunting posture. An interaction between two animals. A split second of stillness before a decision. These are the frames that earn a second look.
This series was made across multiple locations and conditions. It is patient work made by a patient process, and the images reflect both.
